Labor Olympics

Ok - so yesterday at school we (my best friend Amy and myself) took our student council (about 25 high school students) to help out with the Special Olympics basketball. While we were there I shot a couple baskets playing around with students, did a few jumping jacks and just kindof messed around. That was until about noon. Then we went and ate El Charro (Mexican) and took the kids back to school. I made it to the front office to check back in with my boss - and it began...
I had this pain that kind of shot around from my back and into my stomach area, which then caused my entire abdomen to tighten...it was nothing terrible just really kind of uncomfortable. Well the school nurse was standing there saw my face and put her hands along my abdomen (she is an incredilbe nurse who has experience with this and was in an ER for a long time). She smiled and said "Wow- you're having some early contractions"...to which I responded "No, it's probably gas pain"...she just shook her head no. Well these pains continued for a while on and off in intensity - so I called the doctors office and gave them a recap of the day - they said to head on over to labor and delivery at the hospital if it was still going on around 3 pm and let them check me out.
3:00 pm - we headed over there and just happened to run into my doctor! Yeah! He checked me out and I am having small contractions about 5-7 min. apart but I have only dialated about 1 cm (still 9 more to go) and her head is at station negative one. There are 9 stations going from negative 4 which means the head is floating above the pelvic bone to positive 4 which means the head is out of the pelvic bone. O is right even with the pelvic bone opening. So she has dropped to almost where she needs to be. He said my cervix was really soft - which is great - means that the early stages of labor have started...
Now - I could stay at this stage for days - maybe even a week or two - it's really uncomfortable - a lot of pressure and tightening- so now starts the labor Olympics!! We walk several laps around the neighborhood several times a day, I trek up and down stairs, and I jump a little here and jump a little there. I feel somewhat like I need a medal for the labor Olympics :)

So to recap - we could have Evie any stinkin day now! So pray for us and pray that this fist stage of labor will progress quickly instead of taking weeks...
Love cristi
